The Black Cat (1934)

Apart from cat-phobic Dr. Vitus Werdegast (Bela Lugosi) throwing a scalpel at the black cat of the title (which seems to kill it at one point), the movie has nothing really to do with the Edgar Allan Poe story.

Satan-worshipping Hjalmar Poelzig (Boris Karloff) pontificates about the myths of black cats being immortal and carries the cat around quite a lot. Finally, the cat is put outside for the night along with any interest the rest of this horribly dated film has to offer anybody.

  1. Have you seen Lucio Fulci's THE BLACK CAT? I did a review of the cat over at my site. That cat is bad ass!
